Cold weather got you down? Join us for this presentation by Nancy Franks (of Frankly Speaking) as we remember the Blizzard of '78, and this year's weather won't seem so bad.
Grab your scarf, hat, and mittens, and zip up your coat. We’re traveling back to February 1978 to experience the catastrophic nor'easter that we now call the Blizzard Of ’78. Let’s make our way through the 27.1 inches of snow that fell over the course of 33 hours to assist the 3,000 cars and 500 trucks stranded along an eight-mile stretch of Route 128. We’ll stop at homes, roads, and infrastructure destroyed by tidal flooding and violent winds. Feeling chilled? Stories of kindness, cooperation, and courage will warm you up. The presentation will wrap up with a snow-themed drawing.
Do you have photos of the Blizzard Of ’78 that you’d like to share? Bring them along to show off to fellow attendees before or after the presentation.
Franks was a junior at Taunton High School during the Blizzard Of '78. She's a retired elementary teacher who taught for 32 years in Plymouth Public Schools. Her company, FRANKly Speaking, is her "retirement job."
